TrustedNotary.Com is a site that helps individuals and businesses develop and maintain online trust with other users outside of their organizations. Get Trusted allows those who use the internet the ability to authenticate themselves to others that they communicate with a method of verifying their real names and online identities. It also offers the opportunity and ability to secure internet web servers through the facilitation of trusted SSL (secure sockets Layer) certificates and server identity (class 3 certificate) verifications through Thawte and Verisign. TrustedNotary.Com also offers consulting for end-to-end encryption and trust between computer systems. The TrustedNotary.Com site presents itself and acts as an unbiased trusted third party and is not directly affiliated with any ISP, Telecom, or Computer Company.
- Who owns and operates this site?
Sean Heeger. Currently I'm a Thawte Web of Trust notary, a Thawte partner reseller and a brainbench certified IT Professional. I'm also a third generation FAA licensed aviator and a professional musician. My other projects include overseeing The Neighborhood Network. I currently operate and manage over 150 Domain Name System zones locally within my organization and throughout the world along with the Unique Root. I'm also involved in managing business-class corporate and residential Neighborhood Networks. My identity is trusted and verified through Thawte Consuting (Pty) Ltd.
- How old do I have to be to get trusted?
I only work with adults. You must be 18 or older to correspond and request assertions.
- Do you ever use yahoo or hotmail e-mail to communicate with others?
No, yahoo and hotmail are only used for secure instant messenger services. If an e-mail comes from me or my business, it is always accompanied by a digital certificate issued by Thawte or is signed via PGP key. All other e-mail claiming to be from me that is not hosted by my business is to be considered forged.
Let it be known that I never sign up for special offers online or ask anyone to sign up for any pay services that I offer through e-mail. If you wish to communicate with me through Instant Messenger, you will need IM Secure to secure and encrypt our communications. That is if security is not an afterthought for your group.

- What do I need to do if I want a server certificate for my ISP or home web server?
Click the “Thawte Reseller ” logo on the Get Trusted home page, select the web server certificate purchase radio button. Then follow the five steps. My phone number is on the Get Trusted home page if you need any assistance.
- How do I get a freemail certificate?
By following this secured link. Then click the "Join" button. I recommend using your drivers license number as your National Identification Number.
- How do I get my name in my e-mail certificate?
You will need a total of 50 assurance points and you are required to get them through a Web of Trust Notary . Thawte mandates that we meet in person and that I acquire and verify your information first hand. Since I'm not charging any fees, you'll need to come to Quincy, Illinois to get trusted. I charge $3 per mile per applicant paid up front (non-refundable) if I'm required to come to you for your assertion. I will present my ID when we meet. I'll also have another notary available to you if you run short on trust points.
- What will I need to bring with me so that i can get trusted?
Thawte mandates that I see a State drivers license or a State ID Card or any of the following listed below. Only two picture ID's are required as a minimum for photo ID requirements. You can bring copies of your identification forms in either hard copy or digital format. I will still need to see the original forms in order to process you if you choose to provide me with copies. All of the following forms of Identification are acceptable: A US Passport, Drivers License, Military ID Card, State ID Card, Birth Certificate, Voters Registration Card, or a Social security Card. In short, I will need to see a minimum of three forms of ID and for the record, I will not assure anyone who uses their social security number as their National ID number.
- What happens to my personal information after you acquire it?
After I give you an assertion of your identity, I'll award you your assertion points and send all of your information to Thawte when they request it. Your information will be digitized, stored in a PGP self decrypting archive. Non-digital information that I physically acquired from you will be irrevocably destroyed. After which I'll store your information on record for five years in my secure fire and flood proof vault. My vault can be accessed only by me if I am alive.
- I want to secure my instant messenger communications with another user or group. What is the best way?
The best way that I've found is if you use a public IM medium (AOL, MSN, Yahoo, etc.) is to implement encryption. I recommend a blended solution using IM secure along with AOL Instant Messenger. With AIM (version 5.2 or higher) you can use your public key to encrypt outgoing messages and verify your identity to the other user. If you use the other public messenger services, IM secure by itself will still give you a level (56 bit DES - warning) of positive security plus spam (spim) control.
- I have a PGP Key that I would like to get trusted can you help me?
I do sign public PGP keys for those that I can positively identify. I will sign your pgp key if you are part of the Thawte Web Of Trust and your name is in your e-mail certificate. The best way is face to face and is only practical if it you live close by. I will travel to you or a halfway point for a fee and that fee is structured on a case-by-case basis and is paid up front.
- I really want people to believe ( trust ) that I am who I appear to be when I e-mail them. What is the best way to go about achieving this?
Using your name as a domain name in your e-mail address is the best option for most people. After which you start adding trust by having your identity verified by a trusted third party. This involves acquiring an e-mail signing certificate and embedding it into all of your outgoing e-mail messages. If the domain name that you intended to use is already taken and you can't acquire an e-mail or host address from the domain name owner, you'll need to buy a personally identifiable e-mail address from me through my system. I offer free e-mail forwards to those who do business with me as a level of trust is already established. Setup fees may apply.
